In the dying moments, sheer ecstasy broke out for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a last-gasp equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola ranting in frustration and gifted the temporary Chelsea manager a unforgettable moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Stark Contrast in Experience

On the home bench stood the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with 40 trophies for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, overseeing his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and stepped up to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role guiding Chelsea's youth teams.
