Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems
Around 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the state, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact
Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities verified that various areas across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to address the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also faced power outages after the metropolitan area saw its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations responded to over five hundred calls for help across the region, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were expected to linger along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both regions.
Medical Alert
Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the state.
