In a unexpected partnership that breaks traditional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Uncovered

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine cult.

The adventure centers on "strange trials and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Content

Players who finish the mission will acquire an unique katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

Newest Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
